NEW DATE: Central Vermont Ski for Heat, February 11

Join the annual Central Vermont Ski for Heat event at Morse Farm Ski Touring Center on Saturday, February 11th and help a local family in need.  When you make a contribution for emergency heating assistance, you ski or snowshoe for free.  All Ski for Heat proceeds go to the Shareheat fund at Central Vermont Community Action Council.  The first $1,000 will be matched 1:1 by John Gardner, President of Green Mountain United Way and the first $5,000 will be matched dollar for dollar by CVPS shareholders.  Ski or snowshoe for an hour or for the day on trails for all levels and abilities, starting at 8.30am at Morse Farm Ski Touring Center just north of Montpelier.  Central Vermont Ski for Heat is sponsored by Green Mountain Orthopoedic Surgery, Onion River Sports, Black River Design, Noyle Johnson Group, lastminutedeals.com, VSECU, Montpelier Pharmacy, Vermont...

7th Annual WHEELS for WARMTH Tire Sale

This year is the 7th Annual Wheels for Warmth event to support emergency home heating assistance for our central Vermont neighbors in need. Folks who wish to help out can donate good tires they no longer need. These tires are sold for a maximum of $15 each. Those that don’t meet state inspection are collected on site for $4 each. All proceeds go to the heating assistance program at Community Action. TIRE DROP OFF - Thursday, Oct. 27th and Friday, Oct. 28th, 3 – 7 p.m. at locations in Montpelier, Stowe (NEW!) and Williston. TIRE SALE - Saturday, Oct. 29th 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at DuBois Construction on Three Mile Bridge Road in Montpelier. Drop offs also accepted on Saturday. Our staff are coordinating with local relief efforts and fielding phone calls for urgent needs.  If you need assistance, contact us at the Flood Resource Center at (802) 479-4526; staff onsite from Noon to 4pm Monday – Friday.  We provide advice, referrals & resources – help with emergency & transitional housing, food, clothing and other essentials.  Our arms are wide open and we’ll stay hand-in-hand with our neighbors along the long road to recovery.
